
The yellow melon also known as Honeydew or Canary melon has a high water content (90 %), low calorie content (34 per 100 g), low sodium content (16 mg%) and almost 1 g of fibre. The fruit is diuretic, respiratory, eupeptic, demulcent and nutritive. 100 g provides more than half of the recommended daily dose of vitamin C. Its beta-carotene content, which is converted into vitamin A, both antioxidants, makes it an effective ally against cancer and heart disease. It is an excellent purifying and rehydrating agent. Providing many carbohydrates, such as sucrose, but its low energy content makes it ideal for weight loss.
